Deluxe edition entirely dedicated to the discoveries of the Archaeological Program of El Brujo during 15 years of continuous work, with the support of the Wiese Foundation. The book reviews the most important moments in the history of this archaeological site which has been inhabited for 5 thousand years: from the first settlers which occupied this area in the northern coast to the colonial times, and the times of the Mochicas, its highest point.

Written by archaeologist Elías Mujica, this publication has been possible thanks to the support of the National Institute of Culture (INC) and a number of well-known national and international researchers and archaeologists. Photographs were taken by Eduardo Hirose and the drawings, by Segundo Losada Alcalde. It includes a bibliography and scientific contributions on the subject.

In its efforts to promote and disseminate the Mochica culture, the Wiese Foundation published this book in April 2009, the first of a series of tour volumen dedicated to the ancient cultures of Peru. Within the book it is possible to cover the history of tis civilization, with special attention put to the Huaca Cao Viejo, the highest Mochica pyramid in the Archaeological Site of El Brujo, in La Libertad.

The book’s core subject is the mausoleum of the Señora de Cao, the most important archaeological discovery in recent times. In the first part, there is a brief introductory essay written by archaeologist Régulo Franco Jordán, who has led the excavations in El Brujo for almost two decades. The second part of the book is a photo gallery which has images by photographer Eduardo Hirose.
